No, thank you! I have a few power banks as backups in case of an emergency, and this was just a good reminder to regularly re-charge them all. 😘

UPDATE: Power in my apartment building came back on again at 2:25pm EST, so the outage lasted 12min total. I will continue trying to conserve my cell phone's battery in case it happens again, because I have my primary care doctor's appointment tomorrow. #LudditeDanceParty

David Gray's song "This Year's Love" is the spiritual successor to Dan Fogelberg's "Same Old/Auld Lang Syne"! Listen and fall in love (again)!

I meant to photograph the first loaf before rolling it up too, oops! This first loaf of poppyseed bread is going to have a real "fuck it, we'll do it live" kind of energy!
December 7, 2025 at 6:46 AM
Also the first loaf ended up rising twice, because I punched it down before deciding to ration my energy differently, when I usually only do one rise, so I'm interested to see how that changes anything. It spread more, so the length just barely fit into the shortie pan I'm using.

I unrolled and semi-fixed it, because if I had left it the wrong way it would've unfurled while baking into poppyseed soup side-down with the bread butt side-up, -- but it's going to have a little poppyseed crown now!

I also forgot to pre-heat the oven. So...! 😵‍💫🤯

UPDATE: Well, I guess I know which will be the "ugly" loaf we eat! I decided to use my energy up front making the second loaf's dough instead of prepping the first loaf for baking, so when I came back around to the first loaf, I messed up and rolled it in the wrong direction! 😵‍💫🤯

(I need to be able to pre-heat the oven for the poppyseed bread without accidentally setting my apartment on fire, because the dishes are drying on a towel on the stovetop, because my kitchen is so tiny it doesn't have any counter space not in the sink's direct splash zone.)

UPDATE: I just finished the second load of dishes as my timer for the first dough ball rising went off, so I'm going to do another 20min of physical therapy stretching before drying off/putting away everything.

(I do want a robot to do my dishes, but purely as a disability accommodation. I wouldn't trust AI to regrow my spinal disks, which is what would be necessary for doing the dishes to stop being my most painful household chore. And I also want non-painful/low-pain chores to not feel *soul-crushing*!)

Money doesn't buy happiness, but it does buy freedom from almost all possible stressors in life, which is the best environment to successfully cultivate happiness in.

If $1 billion dollars fails to buy you the tools necessary to cultivate your own happiness, I sincerely doubt any more money could!
