NGC 4395 is a nearby low surface brightness spiral galaxy located about 14 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Canes Venatici. Captured Thursday night before the weather changed.

Pinwheel galaxy. Lovely stretch of clear, dark nights this past week.

Great globular cluster in Hercules. Maybe half a million stars all looking back at us 😊

Rough itelescope data so ended up doing pixel-level editing in gimp which I almost never do (because I'm too lazy). But result is a pretty nice flame and horse head nebula. Original image was huge, like 6000 pixels wide, scaled down for the socials, to better hide defects 🤣

The Rosette Nebula (Caldwell 49) is an emission nebula and open cluster in the constellation of Monoceros.
18x200 (windy!) seconds on this last night. Compare it to last year's Rosette image (on IG) to see what a difference more/better data can make.

LDN 1235, the Shark Nebula, is a dark/reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus.

I imaged and processed this data last autumn but never got around to posting it. Pretty faint, I'm sure I could do better with a few nights of data, but I'm impatient and the weather is dreadful lately.

Wide field data from Cygnus Loop, a large supernova remnant.

I'm image processing this morning instead of any number of self-destructive things that comes to mind after watching the news. But the day is young, maybe I'll get to that later.

Messier 45, The Pleiades. Certainly one of my favorites and this is probably my M45 best image thus far. 60x200 second subframes captured on 01 December 2024 in Mollenberg, stacked in Astro Pixel Processor and finished in Pix Insight.

Orion Nebula and Running Man on 29/30 November. Only got a couple hours of decent data, so I'm satisfied with the result. So many satellites they didn't all process out, so had to crop more than I wanted.

A dark shark seems as good a hello world post as any.

If that's your taste and times being what they are.

Guildenstern: What are they?
The Player: Indifferent.
