Dubliner, transplanted to the Northeast of Ireland. He/Him. Paddystinian. Woke/virtue signaller/libtard/Marxist/communist. I’ve heard them all, so try to be original.
Oh god. Someone has actually watched it?!

It was not!

This is the film in question (5.6/10 is incredibly generous)

I think we have to be happy with that.

Me, in a generic Hallmark Christmas romance film

Just send him to an island somewhere. It’ll be cheaper for the taxpayer.

That’ll work coming from Co. Monaghan alright.

Any bloke watching will be laughing with you, not at you.

So much salt.

Actually gutted to hear he’s having health problems but I hope he makes a full recovery. I’m a fan. Outside of sci-fi, I think Atlanta might be one of the most perfect TV shows ever, and I enjoyed his take on Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Ask yourself why there’d be this grand conspiracy toward Dev if he didn’t do it, and examine the kind of person he was.
November 23, 2025 at 3:18 PM
You’re picking nits.

He literally addressed the Dáil, was urged not to do it, did it anyway, and then spoke to the press about it. It’s there from the Irish Times, who would have reported on it at the time.

Good for you! Blue Peter badge is in the post! I’ve been to plenty of counter-protests myself, where numbers we were up against were not quite so insignificant.

If you call burning out an Ipas centre in Drogheda (to cite just 1 incident) “doing nothing”, then I’m afraid you’re part of the problem

At what point did I say it was predominant? The truth is a lot more complicated than that.

Dev appeared before the Dáil in the morning, and also made a press statement on the evening of 2nd May 1945 (the day he visited Hempel) confirming condolences were given. www.irishtimes.com/history/2025...
De Valera’s condolences on the death of Hitler continue to provoke 80 years on
Notorious second World War incident is still cited today by those critical of Ireland

Colonialism makes people do crazy things.
November 23, 2025 at 12:25 PM
How? Have you not seen the rise of the far right? Half-pint Hitler, Justin Barrett, is literally parading around in nazi-aping uniforms (that don’t really stand up to close scrutiny). People are getting burned out for the colour of their skin. There was a race riot in Dublin for Jaysus’ sake
November 23, 2025 at 12:24 PM
You’re getting hung up on semantics. Perhaps condolences weren’t “sent”, but they were given. By the Taoiseach at the time.
November 23, 2025 at 12:11 PM
Fully agreed!

The big irony is that there’s probably more sympathy for Hitler in Ireland now than there would’ve been then.
