hmm - for me, the increased incentive to take more risks has been enough to be more okay with walking around on lower health.
but i admit it's a more difficult system than in HK - i just don't think this is the part of the difficulty that i mind, since it makes me play the game in a more fun way.

and it actually feels less punishing to get hit - because i think, oh, well, i was gonna heal anyways so i might as well just do it now. and it makes it seem like less of a waste of silk to me.

i have to say, i actually really like the healing system as contrasted against hollow knight. in hollow knight i would try to stay at full health constantly, retreating every time i took damage, finding enemies to farm heals off which just made the gameplay slow and frustrating.

generally, words do not need to have the exact same usage and connotations to be considered synonynous.
languages very rarely have pairs of words that mean completely identical things, so that wouldn't be a useful concept!

For real paper down to A10 size this doesn't make a significant difference... it does mean that for our purposes (i.e. fun purposes) the new sizes change a little:
* A21 paper and smaller is 0mm x 0mm
* A20 is 0mm x 1mm
* A19 is a 1mm square
* A18 is 1mm x 2mm
* blah
* A21 paper and smaller is 0mm x 0mm
* A20 is 0mm x 1mm
* A19 is a 1mm square
* A18 is 1mm x 2mm
* blah
