Congressman Brandon Gill says that "Texans shouldn’t go to the mall and feel like they’re in Pakistan." You can pick on Pakistan for an endless list of things, but I have never been to a bazaar that felt anywhere near as dismal and dead as an American mall.

TIL Jurgen Habermas is, to my shock, still alive. Possibly one of the last people alive who could be reasonably labeled a Prussian philosopher?

A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

The same people who will say that ICE shooting someone driving away in their car is "self-defense" are the ones who think driving over protesters is fine if they're in the street.

FOX & FRIENDS: What do you think is next for the Venezuelan people now that you have removed Maduro so he can face American justice?

It’s old-fashioned to defend mainstream journalism these days but some of the most reliable reporting from people actually on the ground will be the AP and Reuters the next 24 hours. Your Substack journalist writing takes will be using frontline reporting from them.

At some point, there will presumably be a criminal trial of Maduro in the US. Given that they have had to use the "narco-terrorist" charge on him to be able to use the Afghanistan AUMF in Venezuela, they kind of have to make sure that charge sticks.

Apparently there are retailers now claiming to sell pieces of the doomed Columbia space shuttle (albeit not parts that were part of its last mission). To be clear, Santa, this isn't on my list this year.

There is no MAGA. There is only Dubya. There has only ever been Dubya.
Trump on Venezuela: "Getting land, oil rights, whatever we had -- they took it away because we had a president that maybe wasn't watching. But they're not gonna do that. We want it back. They took our oil rights. We had a lot of oil there. They threw our companies out. And we want it back."

Random observation, but El Salvador is considered a level one "exercise normal precaution" country on the State Department advisory list? Safer than France, Denmark, or Sweden?
