Judging from the experience of other countries, support for gay marriage inceeases immensely AFTER it is introduced. Having this backdoor introduction would further push the support and speed up the gay marriage in Poland. The support is now at 44-51% (67-70% for civic unions), so it can go fast.

Not even a consolation prize. But if that would circumvent a problem (just like in Israel, where you can only marry religiously and if some1 wants a civic marriage, they go to Cyprus. It gets recognised, so that kinda works). I'd rather that than nothing. An interim fix, but a huge help for the 🏳️‍🌈ppl

Who knows. I wouldn't be surprised either way. The bill is already so toothless and 'de-gayed' that it may as well pass.

The homophobia is continuously falling in Poland. For years already a majority of Poles supports civic partnerships (67-70% in polls in the last year), support for gay marriage is at 44-51% (but >80% among 18-35-yo, & generally the younger, the more supporting).
It's the state who fails, not people.

The bill on "the status of the closest person", which is basically stripped down and re-named civil unions, is still in the works. It is scheduled to be presented in Sejm on a sesson in December, voted on in January 2026.

Obviously, we are past due for marriage equality. But not with these politicians...
At the same time, even if PiS/Konf were to reverse the practice, there will still be a number of gay marriages recognized (and if they remove it retroactively, they can sue and likely win). Still better than nothing.

The journalists from Oko.press were able to confirm that the central administration was working on the solutions since June 2024 already. They were waiting for the ruling.

It's hard not to interpret it as circumventing PSL, who in the coalition thus far was blocking all gay marriage proposals.
Małżeństwa jednopłciowe w Polsce. Prawica w histerii, rząd chce wykonać wyrok TSUE
Prawica gotowa do polexitu, byle nie uznać małżeństw par tej samej płci. A rząd? Rząd już wcześniej przygotowywał się do historycznego orzeczenia TSUE, co potwierdzają dokumenty, do których dotarliśmy

The absolute dominance of iPhone on the US market explains WhatsApp being so low - most people use Apple built-in app, iMessage.
The rest is likely path dependency - you're on the app that most people in your contacts (still) use.

Well, thank the EU and money - the NUTS with such resolutions were excluded from receiving EU grants, so very quickly most of them pivoted.
Also, it wasn't PiS only. They did not have absolute majority in many of these places; they relied on PSL, SP, or local lists for that. And then the tide turned

Oh, I didn't notice that it was a repost from an earlier post. Well, that kind of updates are the welcomed kind, aren't they?
