Sikorski may be a bit controversial and definitely not diplomatic, but you cannot deny that he has a grand talent for retorts.

There's no censorship of Nazi salutes there.“

Study after study shows campaign ads barely move the needle. So where does money’s real power come from? I ranked the five ways money corrupts politics—from least to most corrosive. What I’ve learned from 15 years of tracking political money:
Money Doesn't Buy Elections. It Does Something Worse.
Campaign ads barely move the needle. The real influence is hiding in plain sight.

Two months after starting a new job and five since getting said job, I still have not paused the job newsletters I subscribe.

It keeps making me happy to look at all the job openings and knowing that I do not need to apply for any of them.

So, as long as it sparks joy, I will keep checking them.

This is another case of Russia prosecuting a captured foreign volunteer fighter as a mercenary, which, in Moscow's interpretation of the international law, deprives them of the rights of prisoners of war.

How is that not an international scandal?

Political science is driven by fashionable terms.
Sure, there is always some other research but so is this one hot topic at a given time that gets all the attention.

"Polarisation" is one such term now. Before that, there were populism, democratic backsliding, identity, GAL/TAN, civic society...
🚨new article🚨

"Polarisation" has become one of those terms commonly used to discuss the dire state of politics and democracy today

Here @juanroch.bsky.social, @daniel-balinhas.bsky.social and I argue that this simplistic framing is counterproductive

Also: if Russia stops fighting, there will be no war.
If Ukraine stops fighting, there will be no Ukraine.
If Russia wanted peace, they would stop killing Ukrainians.
If the US wanted peace, they would stop Russia.

German academia: great place to work? You should think twice before giving it a try: Permanent positions are very rare, most scholars have to drop out after some precarious years. @dianakwon.bsky.social has written a great piece about this for @nature.com and also talked to yours truly. #IchBinHanna

Super interesting findings.

It's not young men of *this*generation. It's young mean of *each* generation.
(1/10) 🚨Preprint alert!🚨

In this article, I challenge claims of a generational rise of conservative men. In the media and recent academic publications, the so-called ‘youth gender gap’ has been interpreted as a generational phenomenon.

The Polish government annlunced that they will honour the ECJ ruling and implement recognition of same-sex marriages certificates from abroad.

Obviously, the PiS-supported president is very much against, but he has no say in the matter.

The EU court has ruled that Poland must recognise the marriage of a Polish same-sex couple who married in Germany, even though Polish law does not allow such marriages.

The ruling requires Poland to change its system for recognising such marriages so as not to discriminate against same-sex couples.

This seems to be a fitting metaphor for current politics.

A legislation in a trivial matter, that the majority doesn't care but is rather against, gets passed.

Meanwhile, the really important, big, and relevant issues (climate change, aging baby boomers, much needed infrastructure project) do not.

The leaked US-RU 'peace plan', beside being absolutely amateurish in both language and content, is also incredibly stupid.
It also boils down basically to:

1) Russia gets the land,
2) US get the money,
3) Ukraine gets empty promises and toothless provisions, and
4) Europe gets the bill.
