Hey @mayorcarter.bsky.social are you in control of the St. Paul police or are you no longer in control of them as they are claiming on the ground as they assault residents?

This is a huge escalation by SPPD and extremely unfortunate to see after they stood down last time

St. Paul Minnesota is being terrorized by police and federal fascists who appear to now be claiming the mayor is not the one in control of their actions. Much like the operations in minneapolis thst preceeded the invasion of la federal forces are pushing the most agressive line possible

6. This is all to say: No matter WHAT work we do or how we choose to do it, capitalism isn’t just designed to exploit our labor or time.

It is designed to steal our attention and design our collective intention—about what we believe about our future and how we show up in the world.

None of the cities have a choice. Before Waymo operates driverless robots they get the state to pass a special Autonomous Vehicle law preempting local gov regulation. They are trying to do it now in MN.

Waymo has more lobbyists than there are regulators of this tech at the state and national level.

Monarca is the local organization with observer trainings coming up this week and next in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Wisconsin

I did the training at the U few weeks ago. It's good and important info.

Encouraging info from CM Chavez. My issue here is that the entire history of Big Tech is doing illegal things and daring people to stop them, which rarely happens. We need to say a robot can't drive AND provide a framework for strong penalties when the companies inevitably ignore that law.
My understanding is that state law requires a human driver.

According to MPR, Waymo hired lobbyists to explore the possibility of changing state laws to allow for the operation of autonomous vehicles.

I’d be supportive of an ordinance that requires a human to be physically present.
