The photo I posted was a papa sloth and just a branch away, mom was holding a baby but kept her back to us. She was very shy and the father protectively kept his eye on us. Too cute 🦥

Time to move beyond the focus solely on "three sisters" (maize, squash, beans) and include full spectrum of food strategies. Especially considering ease of tuber transport and potential ceremonial use. We saw evidence for agave cultivation in arroyos and elevated rocky hillsides in New Mexico.
