I actually no longer use cycle as transportation if I have to be on any street without a bike lane.
I got yelled at three times on one trip to "get off the road" a few weeks ago -- Ottawa is not safe for cyclists or pedestrians.
I see it as prt of an entitled & car centric social shift.

I just witnessed the aftermath of (yet another) cyclist getting hit by a driver turning right, this time at Elgin and Lisgar. Grateful to all of the helpful witnesses, paramedics, fire and police who rushed to the scene. But this needs to end, we need Vision Zero now.

Alternatively we are witnessing the Western leaders clearly admit that “the law” and “legality” is in an idea, one that they never have and never will be bound to or by.
Mark Carney was asked whether the US strikes on Iran were a violation of international law. In response, he ignored the substance of the question and listed off a bunch of grievances the West has with Iran.
It’s a shameful and cowardly response from someone who claims to defend international law.

I think it is quite alarming the general lack of collective introspection here in the real world about the rate at which men kill women.
