Absolutely. I write in my book--"The Hours Are Long But The Pay Is Low"--- about coming across this song (via the @thecramps.bsky.social ) and how it opened my mind to the WORLD of weirdness that existed in the underbelly of American music long before "punk rock" had been dreamt up and codified.
Before Bob Mould, Paul Westerberg, or Shannon Selberg ever learned how to sing, Steve Wahrer proved that Minnesotans could be punk rock as fuck. November 21, 1941 - January 21, 1989.

Wow. What a crowd of smiling goofballs at my book launch party/reading/conversation at the #bookcellar in #lincolnsquare!

They surprised me with a cake in the shape of the book (it tastes much better), and a fine time was had by all. Eternal thanks to my interviewer @marthabayne.bsky.social

Folks have been asking "is there a playlist featuring the music/artists/albums you write about in your upcoming book?"

By golly, there is: Hit random & let it rip: 125 songs that were inspirational, weird, and formative.

A book that is actually good and offers 26 templates for resisting oppression, strengthening agency, and figuring out how to stand in the courage of your own convictions.

Just saying.

Nearing the 39th anniv. of my 1st trip to Graceland. After 3 or 4 beers at the nearby Hound Dog Cafe, I suggested to the tour guide that I didn't think EP could have squeezed into the "Flight of the Phoenix" jumpsuit displayed on a mannequin. A security guard gave me a stern STFU look.

So much more inspiring than the eccentric, older Hasselhoff
We always need an eccentric older David who’s everywhere in pop culture and I’m thrilled that David Byrne has taken on the responsibility from Davids Bowie and Lynch
