Reading @jbf1755.bsky.social's marvelous book--which I highly recommend--and I'm struck by the similarity of the first half of the 19th c to the present climate. Also wondering why we don't refer to Republican Doughfaces and celebrate J Q Adams as a total badass!? #booksky
