Well, to be honest, Herbert was probably very frustrated with ALL of the fans idolizing Paul despite one of the themes of Dune being specifically about dangers of charismatic leadership.

I remember a shitload of U.S. movies about brave officers forced to make tough decisions, "tough decisions" being war crimes 99% of the cases. It's no wonder such torrent of right-wing propaganda created people like Hegseth, not like U.S. military had any lack of butchers before that.
