I think anime has succeeded with me when it's full of character studies. Even flcl is largely a character study. Naota and Mamimi are pretty interesting characters.

Yeah I vastly prefer 2003 for it's more character oriented drama. It's just more fulfilling to me even with a handful of terribly written episodes. The work as a whole is very notable. I find brotherhood boring. I don't care about the characters the same way.

What some might find campy in the right way to feel differently, I did not. It did not work. I was not converted. Not everything is for everyone but I also just don't approve of this man's work. It's not really a matter of taste but a matter of worldview.

It wasn't worth getting to the end of. It was consistently mysoginistic and I felt fetishized in terms of queerness. It was just an unpleasant experience throughout because I personally felt impacted by its heterosexual lens / gaze. I think it's just too straight for me.

Coming of age is one. NHK, FLCL, Kare Kano and Tatami Galaxy are some of my favs. Shonen action is my least favorite genre and then I also tend to like heady sci fi and fantasy. Berserk 1998 is one of my all time favs and I'm also fond of Texhnolyze and the original Fullmetal Alchemist.

Yeah my close friends def know me better. But the community and buzz will not dictate what I watch anymore. Last several times I've tried something hyped up it ended up just making me hate that I wasted my time. Attack on Titan was a great example. What a garbage show.

I've enjoyed amazing digital circus so far more than all of S1 frieren. It's a weird comparison, I know. But I think the very best (number 1 rated on MAL) is pretty mid. It's okay. I'm more emotionally invested in the kooky stuff glitch is cooking up.
