I often worry if my readership is disinterested in what I'm doing with the work. Comparison is the death of passion, but it's hard to watch the comic struggle to get even 200 likes anymore. Maybe explaining a small part of what goes into making it will help people understand where I'm coming from.

The story is building upon itself to explore ideas regarding motivation and taking lessons learned to certain logical extremes to give dimensionality and perspective. Or at least -- that's the hope.

Part of what I wanted to do with Spotting Basil was to seemingly self contradict in order to explore an idea. Volume 2 has Basil really internalize Abe saying "you shouldnt ever need me." And then volume 3 has him take it to the extreme of "I don't need anyone" only for that to backfire.
