Average WAR of recent Hall of Fame ballots, by year on ballot. (Yes, getting inducted and leaving the ballot is a hell of a selection bias, but that's sort of the point -- who's left?)

Not at all hard to see Bonds and Clemens slowly cycling out, is it?

For real though: no game in history had more plays that moved the championship WPA needle more than the Game 7 we just saw. It's either the biggest nailbiter of a game ever, or at least pretty high in the conversation.

It was better than the World Series.

Good info here on what Jays instructed him to do, but I don't think this context is right way to do it. You'd never expect a lead off 3B to be what it is off 1B, you've got to account for handedness, situation .. way too much noise for this to make the claim it does.

This looks bad, but also there's absolutely no reason to hit the 9 hitter on purpose

I don't know how you're all getting your nervous energy out before Game 7, but I'm playing a quick (early!) set with the side hustle dad band wearing the only pin that actually matters

I don't know if I believe in signs, but one just appeared outside my window.

(Now trying to figure out how a "Dodger" would show up. May not be a fair fight.)

Not that he was great before the World Series either, but it sort of looks like Mookie Betts is swinging out of his shoes trying to pull that five-run homer

I think this is about the best you could have hoped for on the LA lineup tonight.

Despite any arguments for it, there was no way they were going to drop Betts down to 6 or 7, & honestly, if you have to work that hard to hide Mookie, you have issues that absolutely no batting order will solve

Now we're talking. Basically this except the book is actually a Bad Religion or Strokes record on vinyl

.. there's always a little of that in a few games, yes.

But also, look at the batted ball profile. Dodgers are putting everything in the air, and popping up a ton. They're better engineered to slug, and they have 12 XBH to 8, but otherwise they're making contact that's not going to turn into hits.
