I would like to get them all but 10 hours on my second run is insane. I could maybe bring that down to 8 normally…might have to learn speedrun shit to make the medicine go down…or just stop playing this game because I feel to it now……..I’ll just watch them ……..

I annoy myself when I express my thoughts about the remake.

Those people annoy me just as much.

Who cares if you can dodge man who fucking cares.

The remake is draining to play: blownt the fuck up in size.

I stand for something so it’s hard to move myself out of the way.

Silent Hill fans deserve to rest. The remake is fine given the history of the franchise. It’s probably fine regardless. I don’t like it. I don’t think I can respect it. I’m giving it another go to try and play with an unclouded mind. To be as fair as I possibly can. Me love OG :)

I watched some people talk about SH2 because I wanted to get out of my head about the game. Sometimes people don’t get it, sometimes people don’t care anyway. They can also be too stubborn to begin interrogating new changes as if through the eyes of a new player. That can be hard to do for a remake.

How can I despise as much as I love?

I think video games are something special :)

Fidelity is a tool, not an upgrade. FFX understood this. Silent Hill 2 understood this. Perhaps they had to out of consequence. What did we learn from it?

Strokes of genius were had in the remake…it’s a shame really

A heart wrenching ending is treated as a formality in the remake. There’s no surprise to it, no sense of discovery or even player input. It’s a book turned into an Audible. I really did appreciate being that little bit more engaged before the curtain call, it makes a world of difference to me.

When a piece gets pulled out and replaced by a similar piece, it changes things. Payoff must now make its punch without its setup. The material is intertwined with the medium, at least it was…: a phantom who could only communicate in written letters from the past is now a disembodied voice.

Temperance is a key strength in SH2 that need not apply here; how else could the game possibly express itself if their characters do not constantly acknowledge the last statement said, the events that just occurred, and the environment itself? AAA games don’t respect its players so SH2R won’t either

Its homogenized design philosophy shackles whatever artistry this game could ever be capable of, which is already kneecapped by virtue of its own existence.

Also over the shoulder is boring and I think I have a way to explain it but I’ll hold off on the thought for now.

More to talk about tomorrow …maybe…..I wish there was a dedicated map button…

Is this good for the game? In terms of entertainment yes. Narratively? We’ll have to see. Puzzles were just as confounding the first time so if they got anything right it’s that. I have to reverse engineer a puzzle I brute forced I swear I didn’t mean to.

Combat is much more dynamic than the OG and I’m enjoying it. But the quality of combat is heavily dependent on the arena and style of encounter if that makes sense? Think of how RE4’s combat can be boiled down to shoot->kick, but the level design is what varies those encounters for so long.
