A scribbling, squabbling, strácáiling eejit, that got blown along the N20 and out to Cork City, Ireland. Bestselling co-author. Foghlaimeoir, bleeding-heart, AuDHDer. Opinions my own. Check https://www.linktr.ee/mike_mcgb for latest scut-acting.
Give me technology that covers the basics, without any bollocks, and I'll pay til I'm blue in the face.

Give me bollocks without any basics, and I'll either take my custom elsewhere, or find better ways to access your technology.

I have things I need, and want, to get done. I want tools to assist with doing them.

I want to pay for them, or donate to open-source projects, and receive a good in exchange that behaves as I expect - with any changes flagged months in advance.

This isn't hard, or it shouldn't be.

I want the games console with the disc drive, and games available on said disc, finished and playable.

I want the computer to boot programmes and do tasks without ads, AI, trackers or background weirdness.

I want to Google something, get answers, and be on my way. You can have my traffic til then.

We don't want genAI. We didn't want NFTs and blockchain. We didn't want VR or 3D telly. We didn't want DLC or microtransactions. We're turning away from Spotify and Meta is largely bots botting each other.

What tech needs to do is return to supply of goods, rather than endless financialisation.

Also, if any community-sector or non-profit radio broadcasters outside of Cork would like to air RMD on a monthly basis - for free! - feel free to get in touch.

(...then argue that they *couldn't* have done any differently, because they were *forced* to, by being in gov't - even though they had a record anti-austerity mandate and didn't have to enter gov't, could've fought harder to get their agenda done, or brought down a gov't that was hurting people...)

There are those that will play on others' natural goodwill or desire to hear people out - including those willing to present propaganda as 'both-sidesing' issues of essential rights and humanity.

And don't forget - Labour went into the 2011 government as a minority partner to protect the marginalised, but then they couldn't protect the marginalised because they were a minority partner!

Among many, many examples of WTFery dressed up as 'centrism': defence of the austerity governments by people clearly unaffected, blatant anti-Mincéir tropes, auld lads for the conscription of the youth, free-market ideology, etc.
