Devil In The Details
More than one GOP House member has now come forward, in their own circumspect way, and said that they did not support specific items in the so-called Big, Beautiful Bill (BBB), and in some cases, those items have been rather meaningful items, such as, say, the cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, restructuring of how gambling winnings are taxed, caps on this or that, and so forth, but the larger point is that a few of them realize, on some intellectual level, what they have done and, if at least those words are true, they didn't like doing it.

Please Shout Fire. This Theater Is Burning
The United States is being destroyed from within, and mainstream journalism isn’t making that clear. When I was a kid, there was a popular phrase—“what if they had a war and no one came?” What if we were in a war and no one noticed? Obviously all the people

I’ve been busy over the past month trying my best to step away from the world a bit. Building a shed is something that has given me one of the better escapes I’ve had in a while. This one is a combo of new and recycled wood from another old shed.

Almost every line of this story would have been simply unbelievable a few months ago:

—Pioneering cancer researcher;
—*Arrested* at airport in Boston;
—Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana;
—"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research.

Read it.

That's just it, right there. They don't believe in the public good at all, and that is morally reprehensible to me in such a visceral way.
i find this notion that public spending is illegitimate bizarre as a matter of economics but totally legible as a statement of moral economy. and as per any strict system of morality, the punishment is part of the appeal. they are punishing the american people for believing in the public good.

This is all incredibly bad. Services and agencies we've relied on for a functional, modern society--and critically for consumer protections--are just being gutted under the pretense of cutting waste, fraud, and ultimately increasing efficiency.

Utter bullshit.
