Today's flick: Project MKHEXE, a really good documentary-style horror. It embraces found footage tropes smartly, while also avoiding some of the genre's worst technical sins (you can actually see and hear what's happening). The narrative gets complex at times, but never hard to follow.

A southern gothic-horror-musical revenge tale. Its a weird movie, but never a boring one. Its visually and verbally interesting, even in a few rough spots.

today's horror pick is "Saloum", a west African horror-revenge pic. I don't see a lot of movies filmed in that part of the world, and the stark differences from the usual really make it pop.

Watched Hellbender again this morning, and is such a good horror movie. Simple, intimate, well shot and tight. Highest recommendation.

"All You Need is Death" is another great Irish horror import. Moody & atmospheric, it does a great job walking the line between showing and concealing.
