I never saw one in person. Doesn't look like a very practical car, but they must have been really fun to drive. A big toy car indeed.

Al final, sonaron las campanadas. Las doce de la noche. Todos en stand by. A las 12:02, como nada se incendió, finalmente nos dimos un abrazo y nos retiramos lentamente a nuestras casas, a celebrar el nuevo milenio aunque fuera tarde. Fue anticlimático. XD

Aaah, esa sería una pesadilla. Estar en un loop infinito repitiendo el mismo estrés sobre el cambio de milenio con todo el trabajo que representó evitar que fuera una verdadera crisis... no, gracias. Recuerdo perfecto ese año nuevo, me tocó hacer guardia en el site, por si estallaban los servidores.

Same here! But they became rare and expensive here; once, many years ago, I saw one for sale in the local VW dealership. The price they were asking was almost the same as the price of a brand-new Bug. (This was in 2000 or so, the Safari was a 1979, fully refurbished, but still.) 😅
