I hate the over– and misuse of “unpopular opinion” but I might have one: social media can be used for just broadcasting, and is probably best used that way. “Conversation” and “engagement” was pushed by the owners so we stay on their apps for their profit. Byeee!
Forgot to post this here after posting it on every social media channel i have:

I loved Sentimental Value (Joachim Trier, 2025) so, so much.

reminder that the west invented passports to control the movement of black/brown people into western countries after plundering their homes for centuries.
There's no meaningful justification for why the place of your birth gives anyone authority over where you should be allowed to live. The only reason hard borders exist is so that governments and the rich who own them can manage and control worker movements.

I think that in this new-esque year, I will explore waxing my chains (an actual bicycle thing, not a euphemism or idiom).

I am into tiny homes, design-wise and ethically, but not into them in reality (lol). But this one is so well designed and perfectly detailed. A good home for the owner who is obviously deeply rooted in this space.

I just learned last night that I've misinterpreted the meaning of "bemused" my whole life. I thought it meant "wryly amused" but damn I was wrong.

I know that at the end of the day, Patagonia (outdoor apparel) is still a corporation, not 100% green (it’s in the book) but I think they’re real in not selling you something you don’t need, and also big on mending their products for you to keep using. I think bike brands should be the same.

As a cuspy Gen X-er and, in hindsight, an ex in-denial hipster, I am primed to spot the cringe. But thankfully I’ve aged out of that and I’m happy to see people find what makes them proud and happy. In this year1end essay, I will—

Super enjoyed Eternity, the afterlife romcom with Elizabeth Olsen, Calum Turner, and Miles Teller. So many moments that got me choked up. Reminded me a lot of the 1991 afterlife romcom, Defending Your Life (with Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep!).
