The MacBook I had was a 2008 model. When the mbd died, a replacement cost $450 and I could get a brand new HP laptop for $400 that did just as much.

I did once have a Macbook, one that had been given to me. It lasted a year before the mainboard failed. I could have swapped out the board because I used to work on Apple hardware myself. But then I priced out replacement boards from Apple, and instead bought an HP laptop for less money.

Not to mention no one wants to admit that Apple is a luxury brand, charging hundreds or thousands more for hardware that does pretty much what the non Apple hardware does, dometimes better. My Windows laptop that's every bit as powerful as a Macbook cost less than $1000.

Every time they changed the charging port for the phone, people with hundreds, if not thousands of dollars invested in equipment (speakers, radios, etc), were forced to throw them out and buy new docks and speakers. (Fortunately, Bluetooth eliminated that expense.)

They also have a record of stifling innovation by other third party developers, for instance, filing an injunction against a successful kickstarter campaing for a charger that had old and new connectors so that legacy iPhones could be charged along with newer ones.

I was pulling for Apple in that broief period when Scully was running it and they opened up the platform to third party hardware, but then the board fired him and brought Jobs back, and he put those developers out of business by slamming the door on non-Apple hardware running the Mac system.

Oh but I do. As a 40 year veteral of the IT sector, I know what Apple is doing, I've watched it for decades, and I know exactly what I'm "Missing": a platform that preaches creativity while at the same time stifling any hint of creativity that reaches beyond its borders.

It's not new. Bibi and other right wing Israeli parties have been pushing West Bank settlements for 40 years. They don't care abotu the law. And even when Israel officially banned new settlements in the West Bank, they just turned a blind eye as it continued to happen.

Once Netanyahu proved that "International Law" established by the UN has no teeth, they have gleefully violated if for 20 years with impunity.
Which I support Israel in its war on Hamas, these actions are why I could never support Netanyahu, Likud, or any other conservative Israeli parties.

I prefer audio podcasts becaue I don't have to pay attention visually. It is easy to listen while I knit or work on my tie dye stuff, or game. Same reason I rarely watch video links when people post them. I would have to stop whatever I'm doing to watch it.

I use the cloud as the backup and transfer agent. I keep local copies of everything on all devices that use them. So that if the cloud account doesn't log in, the file is still there.

I'd rather not blame her for the fact that Wrapped says my "listening age" is 13 years older than I am just because I listened to a bunch of music from the 60s. (Mostly Bowie and Fleetwood Mac back when they were a great blues band).

I buy a bunch of small things, mostly locally made or unique to Maine, wrap it all in tissue paper like stocking presents, and pack it in a tote bag for them.
It's an annual tradition, they all pick stuff out, unwrap, and then the horse trading ensues. They have a blast every year.
