Comic books have always been treated as a mythology, where certain things are canon while other things get continuously reinvented. James Bond is the same IMO but maybe they don’t grasp that.

Universities are only as leftist as their neoliberal administrations. The capitalists have infiltrated the university, largely via STEM in my opinion, which allowed them to turn the university into a job training center selling students “employable” degrees for tuition payments.
