Today will always be a melancholy day. I have read more than a dozen books on his flawed life and his presidency. I still love to read his speeches. They helped define my views of what this country should be. I spent time with both of his children. They should have grown up with their father.

Trump’s praise for Mamdani was so effusive, I wouldn’t be too surprised if MAGA nation called for the 25th amendment to be invoked.

I’m assuming that this is a Fox News problem. And a failure of civics education.

Today is National Black Dog Day. He was named Atticus Fetch but as it turns out, he is more of a Boo Radley.

I remember the first time I saw “The Natural” in the theater. There was a scene late in the film where Roy Hobbs/Redford appeared in the locker room. The sunlight lit up his head from behind like a saint. And Redford broke into a broad grin.

I heard a woman behind me say softly “oh, my God.”

#OTD in 1966, a vision of the future was introduced on television. It was a vision based on science, logic, courage and the importance of diversity. #startrek

On this day in 1944, this was what Parisians saw. It was when American military forces fought fascism, not trying to impose it.
