More than 85 American and international scientists have denounced a Trump administration report that calls the threat of climate change overblown, saying the analysis is riddled with errors, misrepresentations and cherry-picked data to fit the president’s political agenda. Attacking Iran fits with Trump’s desire to divert attention from his failures at home: his losses in the courts, his unpopular budget bill, millions of people protesting against his authoritarianism.

When he feels humiliated, he gets reckless.

Understand what's going on.

Saturday newsletter: The Week Trump Crashed

You don’t need me to tell you that Donald Trump had a ghastly week. But I will anyway.

By the COB Friday — after the worst 2-day wipeout in history — the stock market had lost $11 trillion since Inauguration Day.

Even through the cloud of hubris and ketamine that surrounds him, Musk sees that. Navarro is, indeed, a moron
But, Mr. Musk, let me introduce you to the man who has empowered him, models his policies on his advice, and who grabbed the world economy by the pussy.

The Social Security Administration is now wrongly informing some SSI recipients they are no longer receiving benefits.

This comes as agency cuts have led to repeated website crashes and overwhelmed phone lines.

This is what DOGE's "efficiency" looks like.

Remember: The recipe for economic growth isn’t tax cuts for the rich. It’s investment in our people — in health care, infrastructure and education — to build a strong middle class.

You don't grow the economy through trickle-down nonsense.

That the human ego can screw up even the world of endangered species conservation during the Anthropocene, by putting resources into species whose niche existed during the Holocene or earlier, is obscene. How about we save the ones going extinct right now?

This is not de-extinction. And we should not resurrect an animal that would throw off ecology for very distantly related, struggling modern animals. This is not science. It’s show biz.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.
