Something pretty funny about, 22+ games in, the Leafs being the only team in the East below .500

"For each measure of adolescent cognitive performance, students performed better if they were exposed to sufficient levels of fluoride—either throughout childhood, or during part of childhood"
Doesn't seem very much like a neurotoxin at supplement levels!

Childhood fluoride exposure and cognition across the life course
Childhood fluoride exposure is associated with higher academic achievement in high school.

Been way too busy with classes and tutoring, but trying to make some time to read again. Checked out A Memory Called Empire the other day and I'm glad I did. Off to a great start so far

Service is the truest measure of patriotism. On Veterans Day, we honor all who have taken the oath and worn the uniform - and our nation recommits to keeping its promises to every veteran who served our country.

Back to watching the isles (think it's safe to say their loss last game broke my curse) and what a rollercoaster of an opening minute and a half

Founding dean of my school came for a brief talk today and, while explaining how he got into medicine to avoid being sent to Vietnam, casually dropped that he was part of the team that discovered cisplatin. Med school has some crazy stories

Update!
Islanders record in games I watch: 0-3
Islanders record in games I don't watch: 4-0

Promises made, promises kept #isles
0-3 when I watch and 2-0 when I don't, I think I might be the issue here. Guess I have to take one for the team and just watch highlights

There was a presentation today at the @asgct.bsky.social conference about in vivo monocyte reprogramming (for less side effects than CAR-T) via mRNA in IV lipid nanoparticles and, it's very preliminary work, but it's hard not to get excited about this (and all the other incredible projects)

I read about a group running a DnD campaign for 43+ years and, man, I can't get over how insane (and amazing) that is

Inside a Canadian professor's 43-year-old Dungeons & Dragons campaign
Robert Wardaugh's Dungeons & Dragons campaign has been running since 1982. Here we take a look at this remarkable game and ask what has been keeping this party playing together for so long?

Did my med school buddies and I stop and go through all the cranial nerve foramina when there was an open skull on the side of the path at Six Flags for Fright Fest? Yes, yes we did

Great article on the current state of cancer immunotherapy research. Lots of great progress and lots of promise, but still plenty more to be discovered/developed (and a need for NIH funding to support that research!)

Checkpoint inhibitors are the mainstay of cancer immunotherapy. Here's a new review article for the current state of the science and where we're headed www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Man, we could've had a shot at hemispheric free trade and the TPP with Hillary. Instead we're getting left out because of small dick Don and his tariffs

Been pretty busy with classes the past two weeks but decided to pick up Trigger Warning (Neil Gaiman short story collection) while at the library under the very wrong assumption that it'd be light reading. Glad I got it though, definitely a good read so far
