Hey, at least we still have buses running on thanksgiving! Riverside and San Bernardino counties have no bus service today.

Maybe the Santa Ana streetcar will be good. But like half of it is on its own ROW so it’s basically just light rail with tiny platforms.

SCRM will hopefully have a nice rail connection in a few years. But the Metrolink schedule will probably still suck.

Long Beach has a wireless battery bus charger installed in the pavement for a short circulator route. I asked someone who worked for the city about it once and they said "that thing never worked"

Maybe we just need supercapacitor trolleybuses after all

Your vision for the Vermont line is amazing too! I really think Metro needs to think about the full scope, including the San Pedro and Redondo Beach branches you proposed. The South Bay is such a desert for high-quality transit options now

This is perhaps the most impressive transit video I’ve ever watched. I’m amazed at the level of technical detail you can achieve while still making it easy for non-planners/engineers to understand.

Also the developer who built this (who has a big following on the bird site) went on the Epoch Times YouTube channel for an interview on how bad California housing policy is. Great stuff all around

BURBANK LUXURY LIVING- EXCELLENT FREEWAY ACCESS

CPUC limits grade crossings though, especially when freight tracks are next to light rail tracks. Also sensitive areas like near schools. This will probably doom the northern extension of ESFV light rail next to the Metrolink tracks.

I feel like these days, staff does hate it though. Besides East San Fernando Valley, every planned Metro light rail extension is almost fully grade separated because the grade separation requirements were updated a few years ago. Granted I’m sure CPUC has a factor in this

Kind of reminds me of 800 Pacific in Long Beach, built in 1921

Almost had it

Yes, just do this. You pay a slight premium but if you get something that doesn’t match the condition in the description, they’re really good about refunding it.

Nice to see the development at the former Dinah’s has been pushing dirt. I just hope it’s not completely stalled!

Dinah's restaurant to be incorporated into mixed-use project in Westchester
The strip mall that plays host to the Westchester location of Dinah's is poised for redevelopment - but fear not, fried chicken aficionados, the local landmark is safe.

It was much better before the regional connector opened. They ran 6-minute headways and managed it pretty well! They want to build a bunch of new interlockings and change traffic flow on Washington and Flower, but they won’t get any Olympics money now so who knows what they will actually do

The wildest part of this story is how the gold line authority is going to build an extension with one more station for $800 million.

He has until October 13 to sign or veto. If he wants to make a big deal out of it, he’ll do a big signing ceremony. But if he doesn’t take any action, it goes into law.

I must choose D. LB Cambodian food and OC Vietnamese food is just too good. But it really pains me to not have SGV, just so much good food there.
