I'm rambling. I just see a lot of people throwing lame justifications (that are canon to the show) for Vi betraying her people. I know why they're saying it - again they're RIGHT about what the show is telling them. It's just bad politics

The show could have been smart about what these gestures were truly saying politically, but it wasn't. So instead we're stuck with class traitor Vi that is justified by the narrative because zaun is full of evil stupid people and Jinx is unstable/murder-y. Piltover's bad but necessary

It's all about the personal growth of the characters. Jinx fires that rocket as an expression of identity, not because she's interested in revolution. Revolution is simply happening around her. Similarly, Vi becomes a cop to learn a lesson about the humanity of both sides, to find love, etc etc

Vi's arc as framed by Vander in s1 is learning the important value of centrism. It sucks, but the hot headed revolutionary Vi that could have been was never on the table. I guess what I'm saying is, yes, Vi is a class traitor if we apply irl politics to the show, but Arcane resists irl politics

Because of the show's need to both-sides the class conflict, there is plausible deniability for Vi. Zaun is a seedy underbelly ruled by crime lords who have abused Vi and others. Even though Piltover has oppressed them, they're no angels. What class is she betraying at that point? So...

We are meant to read it as, at best, a neutral force - window dressing or a plot convenience but never a real revolution with real consequences. In the end there is no success beyond a half-assed "now zaun gets a seat at the table," no failure that is explored. Why does this relate to Vi discourse?

Steve is a jerk with few redeeming qualities. Jonathan is an idiot now and STILL a liar. And Nancy is still just...girl bossing it up. Where is the growth? The drama? The nuance? Jonathan especially has been watered down from the parentified eldest son/social outcast, but they're ALL worse now
December 10, 2025 at 6:12 AM
S5 is just that but WORSE somehow. Jonathan and Steve are fighting each other again but without the naunce of s1 or the audience's open mindedness to witnessing young teen love. They should be way past this by now.

The characters feel like weird alt versions of themselves. Steve suddenly hasn't moved on and EVERY character around him keeps saying he and Nancy are true love. Jonathan lies to Nancy and is otherwise sidelined completely. Nancy is...well...she's girl bossing it up. That's it. It's SO BORING
December 10, 2025 at 6:06 AM
I loved it in s1 and 2. Nancy and Jonathan were super cute (arguments aside - they were new at things) and Steve proved himself to be more than a 1 note rival. In s3 they gave Steve his own storyline about moving on (good) and put jancy into more conflict (eh), maintaining core dynamics. But s4...

The blue patterns in elphabas final cape are meant to mirror Fiyero's Vinkun diamond patterns. Like. In what world is blue the color of Glinda and Elphaba????
December 9, 2025 at 6:36 PM
Movie Glinda wears blue 1 whole time and it's meant to represent the bubble she's trapped herself in. You could say, "well what about the sets?" to which I'd say blue is only a prominent theme in 1 Glinda/Elphaba scene and it's 1. A soft blue and 2. At FIYERO'S dance
December 9, 2025 at 6:35 PM
You could sell me on the stage show. NOMTW Glinda wears that blue dress as she's grieving. Fiyero rarely wears blue. But in the movie verse??? They dedicate themselves SO hard to color coding costuming that even Glindas iconic yellow dress is made pink. Glinda = pink, Elphie = green, Fiyero = blue

I receive a notification that my repayment date changed. EVEN MORE loans enter repayment now. I try to call and get stuck on an endless automated voice congrats-you-win-a-health-monitor bullshit. Get hung up on. Try to apply for financial hardship forbearance. Loan repayment due still. Fuck. this.

I apply for income driven repayment. My application is stuck in eternal limbo. Some loans enter repayment. I request a forbearance while they process they application. They approve this, then get rid of this without any given reason.
