The basic history of the Boston Massacre is well known. The British fired into a crowd of Bostonians protesting and “harassing” the soldiers and killed 5. The more relevant part right now is that the massacre was investigated, the soldiers were tried and ultimately a few were convicted of manslaughter. The soldiers were defended by John Adams. That is how a functioning government should work to ensure justice is served. When our own government covers up the crime, lies about what we all saw, immediately calls the victims terrorists, investigates the families of the victims and fires anyone trying to do the right thing, we have crossed the bridge into authoritarianism. That is exactly where we are right now. A functioning government would call for calm, demand an independent investigation and let the process play out. This is a threat to all of us. I will not back down. I will not cower. I will not be afraid. Don’t. Tread. On. Me. We are taking back the flags. All of them!! Jean Wilson Brutus was a Haitian immigrant. Shortly after he was abducted he was transferred to a hospital where he died. A nurse said it appeared he “fell down stairs.” ICE did not notify family of his death for a week.
