I’m so sorry to hear this! I also broke my ankle many years ago and had surgery to fix it, so I know this is a painful injury, and it does take a long time to heal. I hope that your surgery goes well and that you will be back on your feet soon.

This was such a lovely presentation and workshop, Luke. It was wonderful to see your selections from the project and to see the haiga together as a group. The scope and collaboration of this project is inspiring!

There is one and only position that makes any sense if you really take it seriously: say openly and unapologetically that he must be removed from office. Not just call on people to condemn it, not just fret about norms. He is literally trying to kill you. Act like it.

I learned so much about disability rights in the early years of the covid pandemic because of Alice Wong and other disabled writers who used their voices to shed moral clarity on the times we are living through. I’m so grateful for her voice. She will really be missed.

This is so disappointing. Virginians sent their representatives a message on election day this year that we wanted Democrats to fight for us against this authoritarian administration. We wanted you to protect our healthcare, not cave on the shutdown for the fake promise of a future vote.

They’ve chosen to fold in the immediate aftermath of election results that gave them a clear mandate to fight.

Think about that.

They’ve arranged their votes to enable them fold while also appearing to oppose—and they will fundraise off the appearance.

Think about that.

They think we’re stupid.

@stevevladeck.bsky.social had a really helpful explanation about this

If you’re trying to catch up on what went down with #SNAP late last night at #SCOTUS, here’s my attempt to read the breadcrumbs on the “administrative stay” issued by Justice Jackson—and why a justice so critical of the Court’s grants of emergency relief to Trump still granted temporary relief here:
190. SNAP WTF?
A very quick explainer on why Justice Jackson issued an "administrative stay" in the SNAP case late on Friday night, and on what's likely to happen next
