My parents made this wine in October 1973, the year I was also made! Mr P rescued it today when my BiL was going to bin it. I was unsure! It’s one of several bottles from 1973 / earlier. Tastes OK but more like sherry than blackberry! Will take some back for the family to try next weekend! 😀

What a day. Also relief. Realised we need to store some of my boxes as we won’t have time to go through all my stuff before Mum’s move next weekend. Visited one place on way home: giant garage space but run down, hard to get to with pot holes and hardly any parking… asking just shy of £500/m!!!…

I’m awake but staying under the duvet for a few more minutes before getting going (breakfast and more boxes…). I slept in my bobble hat all night so was cosy!

I am also a bit grumpy because our washing machine has eaten another 2 (newish) bras! I put them in bags, then in a big bag along with another garment and still the under-wiring has been demolished. I have told Mr P he needs to make a decision: keep forking out for new bras or get a new machine. 😡

The people who make Shein's clothes labor for ten to twelve hours per day (in violation of China's labor laws), some up to seven days a week, and earn as little as 15 to 30 cents per t-shirt.

This is Shein's supply chain. The factories are contracted to make clothes on order - some small, some big. If the chinos are a hit, orders will ramp up and so must production. Factories then hire temporary workers to meet the demand their permanent staff cannot fulfil.
The migrant worker from Jiangxi is looking for a short-term contract - and the chinos are an option.
"We earn so little. The cost of living is now so high," she says, adding that she hopes to make enough to send back to her two children who are living with their grandparents.
"We get paid per piece," she explains. "It depends how difficult the item is. I am working at my desk in my pyjamas and have a Teams call in a few minutes. This is because I wanted to have a shower, but I was too busy faffaging on my phone to get up earlier. Fortunately, I don’t think I need to have my camera on. Fortunate for everybody else I mean.

Fun Christmas choir rehearsal tonight - just one more left with ‘just us’ before we join with the band and soloists for two full rehearsals. It’s our usual worship rehearsal night so any of us singers had to automatically join the choir (unless singing that Sunday then joined rehearsal after!).
