It's so interesting - my sisters are a decade+ older than me and they don't know any of this stuff. We literally are the first generation to talk publicly about it.

But seriously, the trend I see is *some* boys/men refusing to participate in society because they feel that equality with women is inherently unfair to them.

Yup. I think of it as a trend of men "opting out" (of education, employment, basic social norms, etc.) rather than changing or trying.
