Whenever an artist starts talking about how they've made art all their lives ever since they were a kid, I start to tune them out. I'm more interested in artists who came to it later in life or who had to put it on hold most of their life or stopped making it for a long time for various reasons.

Went to a vegan meetup at a local vegan restaurant last night. Everyone was very nice and welcoming and receptive and I had a nice time but I'm still not sure if going out to socialize is more fun than hanging out with the cats at home.

The new thing apparently is to criticize people for how often they want or need to listen to music or when they listen to music while they do other things.

Realizing how monetized everything is, even blog posts. They used to be a labor of love, just a desire to share things you liked & your thoughts & ideas, but now everything is behind a paywall or has so many ads it's unreadable. Every inspirational post is an ad for a book or workshop.

#JanuaryinJapan begins today!

Soseki is sometimes regarded as Japan's first modern novelist. Novels like Botchan, Sanshiro, + Kokoro take up the mixed blessings of modernization and Westernization in Meiji Japan. He remains one of Japan's most widely-read authors.

This may not be totally accurate, I didn't start using Storygraph until later in the year and wasn't always consistent about updating it.
It's also a shame that visual novels/otome aren't considered because I do a lot of reading in those.
