Excited to see #RuaLab alum Aaron Onufrak defend his PhD today! Aarons current research examines the microbial community of eastern black walnut trees infected with Geosmithia morbida. Aaron was an MSc in the lab 2016-2018 where he was co-advised by Dr Katie Hossler.

Sure, women are growing in representation among undergrads and grad students. But then there's this. Fig by Rissler et al 2020.

The research by social scientists has shown that this isn't a passive filter. It's caused by harassment, discrimination, and overt bias.
