No this is a proper thanksgiving: spending time with people you kind of don’t like and eating unidentifiable food.

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

I feel better already. Hopefully they will leave Quark at home. I don’t have any latinum on me.

Finished reading Kirsten Beyer’s VOY relaunch novel Unworthy. I forgot how much I enjoyed this novel the first time 10 years ago. Beyer really knows how to write Voyager. The only thing I don’t like is Cambridge taking a romantic interest in Seven who seems interested. Yuck. He’s her therapist.

Finished reading William Leisner’s excellent TOS novel The Shocks of Adversity. Kirk and crew get rescued by a ship from the Goeg Domain. At the first it seems like the Domain is another Federation. But it turns out the Domain is the 20th/21st United States in space. 10/10

Share a Christmas movie.

I know it’s not technically a movie, but because our antenna could not pick up any channel that carried Trek, the first time that I was able to watch Encounter at Farpoint was on a VHS tape I received for Christmas.

Okay, Trek nerds, post a picture from your first #StarTrek movie.

I know the first Trek movie I watched in a theater but not which was the first Trek movie I ever watched. It was probably this one on VHS.

You're having a dinner party with characters from Star Trek. What four are you inviting?

A nice, intellectually stimulating dinner party. Everyone arrives promptly at 6 pm and leaves promptly at 7 pm.

Finished reading Christopher Bennett’s Star Trek Titan Over the Torrent Sea. It depicts Droplet (a water world) & its native species in a way only a novel can. Like many Titan authors, Bennett isn’t afraid of letting the Titan crew fuck things up, even though the crew had the best intentions. 9.5/10

The book includes this great line about Spock when he is about to fight in a gladiator game on the Nazi planet: “In his gladiator kilts his lithe muscles were more than usually accentuated.” It has an accompanying illustration a few pages later.
