Post a book you love from the 80s. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

Turkey is very much overrated. I think my husband would be amenable to cook steaks next year instead, though I does like turkey. But he like steak more.

Trump said most foreign-born immigrants are on welfare. Yet I guarantee that most of his MAGA supporters stay at hotels owned and operated by South Asians, go to nail salons owned and staffed by Vietnamese, etc.

MAGA hypocrisy knows no limits.

Finished reading Bennett’s ENT novel Rise of the Federation: Live by the Code. I enjoyed it, though the Klingon subplot didn’t hold my interest. The Ware plot (the technology from the station in Deadstop) did. Basically it’s an LLM run amok. It never gained AGI but that made it more dangerous.

I served wine that I bought from Sam’s Club at Thanksgiving, and one of our guests who was trained as a sommelier in Vietnam and worked for a long time at a exclusive wine club in district 1 in Ho Chi Minh City gave it her seal of approval.

Rewatching DS9 season 1 Time to Stand. I fucking hate Dukat. I love to hate Kai Winn, but I just plain hate Dukat especially in light of what the DS9 relaunch novels establish he was doing to the real Iliana Ghemor (altered to look like Kira) during the entire run of DS9. He‘s so reprehensible.

Lady at Sam’s Club at the front door looks at my wine and looks me and doesn’t look at my driver’s license: “And you’re old enough.”

Thanks I know but we can pretend you need to ID me. If I can’t be considered a grumpy old man yet, you have to ID me.

Thanks FedEx for turning my mother’s birthday gift into a treasure hunt.

I guess I’m making Thanksgiving dinner for a household of Vietnamese (my husband’s family & friends). Since I have to buy it tomorrow, I’ll be taking shortcuts: canned cranberry sauce & boxed stuffing & store-bought pie, but I will do turkey legs, sweet potatoes, & brussel sprouts with bacon.

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

I feel better already. Hopefully they will leave Quark at home. I don’t have any latinum on me.

Lt. Valeria Williams on xenophobes in Bennett’s ENT novel Rise of the Federation: Live by the Code: “Left to herself, she could take on a mob of rampaging xenophobes every day and chalk it up to exercise; there were surely no categories of life-form more satisfying to punch in the face than bigots.”

Finished reading Kirsten Beyer’s VOY relaunch novel Unworthy. I forgot how much I enjoyed this novel the first time 10 years ago. Beyer really knows how to write Voyager. The only thing I don’t like is Cambridge taking a romantic interest in Seven who seems interested. Yuck. He’s her therapist.

I really wish my city would do a better job at telling us about the holiday sanitation schedule. They combined Monday and Tuesday pick up this week, and as the garbage truck went by my house I realized what happened and checked online. Yup pick up was today instead of the normal Tuesday pick up.

It’s somewhat frustrating dealing with a student who always most gets something but just isn’t willing to let go of their preconceived notions to open up their minds to new possibilities and ways of thinking.

Honestly that sounds like most of my interactions with people irl in general.

I have no idea why Charlie Brown seems to showing up a lot on my feed this evening. I must be missing something.

Finished reading William Leisner’s excellent TOS novel The Shocks of Adversity. Kirk and crew get rescued by a ship from the Goeg Domain. At the first it seems like the Domain is another Federation. But it turns out the Domain is the 20th/21st United States in space. 10/10

I would be very happy if I woke up in the morning and read that ProctorU had gone bankrupt and was forced to suspend all operations.

I would also wonder what happened to all the money they earned from not giving students refunds.
