Saw this and thought of @medcrisis.bsky.social's attempts to dispel some of this bullshit over the years but I think things are just getting worse

Never watched DTS so maybe I’m missing some context but why is there so much Lando Norris hate?

I had a lovely catch up chat with @jamesheathers.bsky.social at the weekend. I am thoroughly inspired by the work he and team are doing at the Medical Evidence Project. They act on tip offs for fraudulent and/or inaccurate science used to shape medical practice. Know any? medicalevidenceproject.org

Ok, just wow. If the content of this article is right, this is depressing. We're slowly reaching the point where ~100% of what I was taught in Social Psych was either innocently wrong or plainly frauded

It's one of the most powerful films I've seen in my life. It's also one that is very hard to recommend, since it is so bleak and paints such a damning portrait of humanity's capacity for evil.

A short video that started as a bluesky post a few weeks ago. For clarity, I am actually quite optimistic about AI being useful in many areas of medicine. I’m just saying being a “diagnostic machine” really won’t move the modern healthcare needle that much

Wow. It’s not often a youtube video stops me in my tracks and leaves me stunned for a few minutes. To be fair, it’s the documentary that the youtube video is about that packs the punch, one I had heard about but thus far not seen – will rectify that asap

I started a talk a few weeks ago by talking about how many of these otherwise healthy young men are ending up on my table with heart disease. The link is broadly anecdotal at the moment – no cardiovascular research exists with TRT in patients who DON’T have a pre existing proven deficiency

What a great obit, all the more poignant knowing the author herself has passed too [can read w/ free sign up]

There’s so much to say about the Watson phenomenon; embodied now by people like Dawkins. A reminder great scientists have very human flaws, prone to contrarianism and bias; ie poor science
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

lol can you imagine leaving such a pathetic comment under a post about SCRUBS? The show with a multi-ethnic bromance, a sassy Latina; that mocked WASPs, jocks and capitalistic medicine? Whose hero character was a tortured soul that cared too much about his patients? All time top 10 wokest TV show 😂

I rarely interact with screening since in many sense both ICU and anaesthetics are tertiary specialties but the notion of "less is more" is one sometimes people struggle with but is frequently the right choice.

Great vid from Rohin.
Trying to bring a bit of old fashioned classic twitter-era medical discussion to Bluesky!

Cracking thread. I adore the countryside but I’m a city boy through and through
1. In the wake on Mamdani’s win, we’ll see a lot more far right anti-urban sentiment. Here’s a thread on its roots and evolution.

The idea that the city is evil and corrupt, and the countryside innocent and pure, goes back a long way: to Theocritus in Alexandria, and to the Old Testament. 🧵

Something you might not be aware of, and it’s not particularly important, is that Zohran Mamdani’s Hindi is *really* good. That’s pretty rare for non-resident Indians
