I really try to alt text but sometimes the whole reason for a pic is that I don't have the words, especially when it comes to posting my art.

My local Michael's massively disappointed me this year when I went to do my annual Lemax shopping (Christmas had already taken over in early October 😭). And I've never heard of Dept 56 or "villagers" so I read this like...

You've convinced me to give it another try. I watched the occasional episode when I was a kid and was fond of it. So when the pilot popped up recently, I was curious if it would hold up. I enjoyed it, but not enough to keep watching past the pilot.

Yeah, that strategy got me through Fellowship but I ran out of patience somewhere in the middle of Towers. My boxed set looked a bit like this but reversed.

Ugh. I adored The Hobbit but never finished LOTR. Around the same time period I was completely enamored with Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, etc. I don't think the "not quite modern" language was the problem.
