There’s union rules about staff per car. If they are running an extra-long Dinky for the holiday it’d trigger the second conductor.

Don’t you need to pay duties when you go back to Switzerland though? It’s not part of the European customs area.

Borough presidents aren’t legislators though, but exist to fuck with land use approvals.

Ugh this is why council needs some at-large seats so it isn’t just a bunch petty lords of their little fiefdoms calling the shots.
November 26, 2025 at 9:29 PM
This feels like the exact opposite of what’s happening in Jersey City right now where everyone is basically lining up to try to be James Solomon’s new best friend.

I can’t believe I am saying this but why is NYC politics so toxic compared to Hudson County?
November 26, 2025 at 9:24 PM
Clearly he’s not regime-pilled or at least wasn’t back then. Politics is a team sport.
November 26, 2025 at 9:10 PM
There’s some heavily renter districts in Manhattan and the Bronx participating in the evil block though.
November 26, 2025 at 9:08 PM
This makes me wonder why Zohran didn’t run a slate of council candidates.

Once the EWR rail station bus transfer is open it’d be great if they could simply work out a free Airtrain transfer with the PA and fold the 62 into the 24.
November 26, 2025 at 6:35 PM
Yeah I forget you couldn’t just check the schedule app for a realtime GTFS estimate of how far away the bus was.
November 26, 2025 at 6:24 PM
Yeah I wonder how much 62 loss is simply the 24 not sucking anymore. They run within a few blocks of each other in the South Ward.

Doesn’t Muni run all night?
November 26, 2025 at 6:19 PM
Well you think density would spread too if it had such an efficiency advantage.
November 26, 2025 at 6:18 PM
It just seems silly that NYC would figure all this stuff out and it simply just wouldn’t spread nationally.
November 26, 2025 at 6:15 PM
Why didn’t other cities just copy the NYC model?
November 26, 2025 at 6:14 PM
So all this convenience culture was NYC-only before Web 2.0?
November 26, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Food delivery existed and was widespread before DoorDash. People would call the pizza place, the Chinese, the Thai etc. and have food in the same 30-40 minutes it takes now.

Yes an app makes browsing options easier but that’s a UX improvement not a revolution.
November 26, 2025 at 6:12 PM
Wait what? Why couldn’t you just hail a cab in the street?
November 26, 2025 at 6:10 PM
Grandma, the next door neighbor, a parent working less than full time (remember you need a certain amount of earning power for it to make financial sense to do full time childcare)

It takes a village!
