City planner. Reconstruction Democrat. Housing is good and fascism is bad.
Democrats previously didn’t talk like this in New Jersey. I’m so excited for the change this portends.

Across North Jersey disparities are even more stark between the have-nots. We absolutely need regional tax base sharing in NJ.

This new data on tax base fragmentation shows massive disparities within Hudson County. You can see why:

1. Hoboken can afford so many fancy public works projects and Jersey City can’t.

2. Why Brian Stack bringing home state aid for North Hudson gives him so much power.

To be fair there’s a branch that stops right in front of the stadium but it only runs on event days.

Live look-in at the LD-25 Assembly delegation meeting to discuss pooling constituent services.

Why was the NJ GOP confident and the Dems worried going into Tuesday? Ciatarelli actually hit his turnout benchmarks, getting the most votes ever of a GOP nominee in NJ and beating 2021.

It just turns out Mikie blew the NJ off-year baseline out of the water with by far the most votes of all time.

New vote drop in LD-25. Dem challenger Marisa Sweeney has now passed incumbent Republican Aura Dunn as the top vote-getter. Sweeney’s running mate Steve Pylypchuk is now only 76 votes away from Dunn.

We might have a Dem sweep here.

North Bergen mayor and local Democratic machine boss Nick Sacco backed Jack Ciatarelli only for North Bergen voters to say “nahhh”.

Ward C results demonstrate why we need ranked choice voting in Jersey City.

My hot take on Montclair is that if you filled in this eight block area with dense transit-oriented midrise housing you could meet the town’s housing needs for at least three decades while leaving the rest of the 1-2 family neighborhoods untouched.

This photo contains the entirety of Montclair’s protected bike lane network, all 100 feet of it.

Metrolink, Coaster/Sprinter, and Surfliner - Southern Pacific

This system bugs the Pacific Coast in Southern California and uses some ex-SP trackage to tie together a mostly ex-ATSF network.

Metra - Chicago Northwestern

I was torn between this and Illinois Central, but CNW is both a more iconic look, has heritage on more lines, and centers Chicago in its branding.
November 4, 2025 at 7:26 PM
MBTA - Old Colony Railroad

Unfortunately MBTA doesn’t go to Maine so the B&M is out, but this New Haven predecessor that built most of the South Side Lines leans into Massachusetts’ Puritan heritage.

LIRR - stay the same

By far the longest-running still active passenger rail brand in the U.S. should simply bring back old logo stylings. Dashing Dan is too commuter-focused so I say opt for the Pennsy keystone but with the modern blue and yellow color palette.

Metro-North - NY Central

Just as straightforward and classy as the PRR.
