Fine—it’s the cruelty for sure. But the man’s sheer idiocy is pretty staggering too.

I am not impressed by your stance and you clearly have the right to do as you please. I'm just an old woman working to effect change from within while you stand on the sidelines calling balls and strikes
Stand on the sidelines? Huh? I vote...every time. Whining? What have I been whining about and what would that have to do with part affiliation being changed a couple of hours ago?
Interesting assumptions. Not compelling counterpoints.

Our political system is fundamentally broken. It was not designed to represent the will of the people and it is incapable of doing so today.

Then there are all the so called 'independents' whom I think of as the whiners who took themselves out of the game to stand on the sidelines criticizing.
Unfortunately still true bsky.app/profile/adam...
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

The balance of power is simply out of whack. Johnson really holds all the cards that’s how the system works.
They both have power. But Jeffries is pissing his away without using it.

yes, this country needs a strong left. Capitalism inherently leans right. The US will always have a strong right but it will only have a strong left with courageous people willing to stand their ground.
We need a party of democratic socialists that gives the electorate what it demands instead of the military industrial complex

I understand how you feel but changing your party affiliation doesn’t make you better off. Independents make it a lot harder to effect change in the major parties when a third of the country takes themselves out of the game to just stand on the sidelines whining.
I wonder how many people will change their party affiliation to Independent today, particularly in states with open primaries?

my argument is that centrists don’t really stand for anything & are ‘go along to get along’ people. Over the last 30 years, Democratic compromises left the majority of us poorer. I’ve always worked hard but that will never be enough to overcome flawed economic structures

I understand your frustration, but I will take a different approach and work to change the Democratic Party from the inside out as their values still align with mine. Many countries with multiparty systems are not better off and I’ll use the UK as example.
In a functional party system, this kind of capitulation in the face of authoritarianism could mean the end of the Democratic Party.
In our system, it could mean the end of the two party system. Neither party can represent the pro-democracy majority. It's time for something new.

I leaned left but supported centrists until purchasing non-employer provided health insurance made me see the centrist approach to affordability wasn’t working. Then 40% of our retirement savings disappeared overnight after which centrist politicians bailed out the big banks who were responsible.
