Made from Maine Wabanakiak, Isles of Shoals fishermen, and Welsh coal miners. Oregon transplant. Constitutional law and state/tribal/fed gov't wonk (JD). North Atlantic historian obsessed with wampum, cod fishing, and dual-host pathogens.
So easy to fact check the Mad King. Prices are down...a whopping 5 cents from this time last year.

Not sustainable? The percent of the foreign-born population in the US in 2023—which is less than 1 in seven (not six)—is nearly the same as in 1900. How did we as a country ever survive?

BTW, notice in the 1900 map where the lowest % of non-immigrants lived.

@tbrunner.bsky.social, this doesn't look so fun. Plan (soggy) travel w/ J accordingly.

While Trump's approval with all partisan groups dropped to 36%, the partisan breakout is particularly brutal among independents.

I'm not really a "stuff" person—unless it's cooking related. I inherited my mom's regular-sized Kitchenaid 20+ years ago, but it's just too big for my galley kitchen, even with my renovation. Then Macy's seduced me with this "mini" (and at a ridiculous price,) and now I'm smitten.

It looks as if Trump's handlers were keeping him in a media bubble which was finally breached by the GOP bloodbath last night. I expect Thune will arrange a "tactical" nuke of the filibuster within days.

Phew. Looks like the home state is voting down the MAGA voting restrictions.

While private "bathrooms" were rare, they weren't unheard of in wealthy homes in the 1860s. However, it's highly unlikely that a Victorian bathroom would look anything like Trump's marble monstrosity. Rather, more like this from an 1880s J.L. Mott Iron Works catalog. library.si.edu/digital-libr...

As Schoening testified earlier, in 2020, the OR Legislature passed HB 4208, which prohibits "law enforcement agencies from using tear gas for purposes of crowd control except in circumstances constituting riot." olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2020S1/M...

Since Trump told the press he had an MRI "earlier this month," did anyone ask if it was a follow-up to an earlier MRI—one after his 9/11 neurological "event"?

Frankly, I'm not against Democratic consultants making a living. But be f*cking transparent about it. Don't use the No Kings rallies as a smokescreen.

Make a case for why you need funders to build a Democratic consultant class and pitch it. Otherwise, it's just a brazen lie. 6/6.

Let's talk transparency. I get lots of texts asking for "No Kings" donations. I received these two from "hwdems.org"—which resolved to "hollywooddemocrats.com" in my browser—and claims as its mission to "find and recruit progressive celebrities to run for office."

So who runs this organization? 1/6

The Portland and Oregon reddits are now swarming with posts on where to buy inflatable frog costumes, who has the best prices, and how to donate them to the Resistance. And I just learned 3+ frogs is an "army".

I love this state.

I have this vision of a street scene of utter mayhem; then the mayor and governor appear and each drag in front of the street those giant Hollywood facades with an empty street scene—just as Noem and Trump walk by, fooled. As soon as they pass, the facades are pulled back, and the mayhem continues.

Sen. Wyden's investigations hit pay dirt, uncovering $1.5 billion, including over $100 million in transactions with sanctioned Russian banks. Initially, Wyden tried to get more information from the banks; when blocked by regulations, he turned to the Treasury Dept, now under the Trump Admin.

According to the Oregonian this morning, Trump ordered NG troops from both CA and TX without even reading Judge Immergut's 10/4 order eviscerating his blatantly false justification deploying 200 OR NG members. [source: www.oregonlive.com/portland/202... ]

Hegseth claims the role of the OR NG call up will be to support federal law enforcement and protect federal buildings based on current assessments of threat.

So federal LEOs are incapable of handling 10-20 peaceful protestors—frequently dressed as chickens or dinos—absent 200 Oregon NG?

This is a promoted post just now at patriotsdotwin (The Donald).

Not encouraging violence at all, right?

Changed my avatar to the flag of Oregon, my adopted state. Yes, that's the flip side of our flag, and IIRC, Oregon is the only state with two different images on its flag.

A piece of my heart will always be in Maine, but right now, Oregonians need to stand together.

Even the Wall Street Journal editors didn't believe McCabe was authorized by Comey to anonymously leak. From www.wsj.com/articles/mcc... (April 16, 2018):

According to the indictment (storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...) Former Director Comey lied to Senator Cruz during the exchange below, pulled from the Senate Committee on the Judiciary Oversight hearing of Wednesday, September 30th, 2020.
