Minneapolis just earned a 99 on the Human Rights Campaign’s Municipal Equality Index — a national scorecard that looks at how well cities support and protect LGBTQ+ residents. It’s one of the highest scores in the country, and it reflects the values we try to live every day.

Today, we recognized several City staff who stepped up in the wake of the Annunciation shooting. From 911 dispatchers and first responders to our communications teams and those supporting from afar, hundreds—if not thousands—of people answered the call during one of our city’s darkest moments.

Our second Safe Station is now open at Fire Station 7 in Cedar-Riverside. Open 24/7 for anyone struggling with substance use — walk in, get checked by a firefighter, and connect with a peer recovery coach for treatment, housing, and mental health support.

This morning, Temple Israel woke up to anti-Semitic threats — a reminder that hate still tries to find a foothold. It won’t find one here. Minneapolis stands with our Jewish neighbors. Hiding behind hate to spread fear aganst any religion or group of people is cowardly and unacceptable in our city.
