Dozens of Twin Cities mayors, council members, advocates, and students — one mission: keep our communities safe.

Stronger gun laws shouldn’t be controversial. If certain state lawmakers won’t act, cities should have the power to protect our neighbors.

Decades of investment, teamwork, and community spirit built this moment: Minneapolis is the No. 1 city for women’s sports.

From the Lynx to the Frost to thousands of young women competing every day — this is who we are.

Proud. Inclusive. Competitive. Unstoppable.

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, I’m proud to celebrate a first for our city — Minneapolis’ all–Native American firefighter crew.

They’re serving with pride and showing kids across Minneapolis that there’s a place for them in public service too. www.startribune.com/minneapolis-...
Minneapolis firefighters form first all-Native American crew
Besides responding to blazes on Engine 10, they hope to inspire Indigenous kids and adults in the community.

For decades, MEDA has helped level the playing field for minority-owned businesses — creating jobs, opportunity, and equity in Minneapolis and beyond. Proud to celebrate that legacy at last night’s Spark Gala and to keep working together to turn small ideas into big successes!

Minneapolis is leading the nation in affordable housing production — helping residents like James buy their own homes and lift others up along the way.

Since 2018, we’ve invested more than $400 million in affordable housing, and we’re just getting started.

Chief Tyner gave more than 30 years of service to Minneapolis. A kid from the Northside who grew up to lead the Fire Department, he’s always given back to the city that raised him—and I know he’ll continue to do so. I wish him the very best! www.startribune.com/minneapolis-...

Happy Latino Business Week! Minneapolis is stronger because of our Latino-owned businesses — fueling innovation and connection across our city. Let’s show our support this week and every week — shop local, dine local, and uplift local businesses. ¡Gracias por todo lo que hacen!

Thank you to Chief O’Hara for increasing patrols around all places of worship after recent hate crimes. Minneapolis welcomes and loves all — and hate toward any neighbor will never be tolerated.

This morning, Temple Israel woke up to anti-Semitic threats — a reminder that hate still tries to find a foothold. It won’t find one here. Minneapolis stands with our Jewish neighbors. Hiding behind hate to spread fear aganst any religion or group of people is cowardly and unacceptable in our city.

A safe, stable home is the foundation for everything else. Since 2018, Minneapolis has invested more than $400 million in affordable housing and homelessness response — partnering with developers like James Crumble to make that foundation possible for more families.

Honored to welcome Crown Prince Haakon of Norway to Minneapolis for the opening of a new exhibit at Norway House on Franklin Avenue and a conversation about the future of collaboration between Norway and Minnesota. We’re thrilled to have you in our great city!

Our City’s new traffic safety cameras are about preventing reckless driving, stopping crashes, and saving lives — not writing tickets.

Whether you’re biking, rolling, driving, or walking across Minneapolis, everyone deserves to get where they’re going safely.

Latino Business Week celebrates the energy, talent, and innovation that Latino entrepreneurs bring to Minneapolis. They fuel our economy, create jobs, and build community.

Their success is Minneapolis’ success — I’m proud to officially proclaim this week as Latino Business Week!

Homes once neglected by the nation’s largest landlord are being given new life. Thanks to City staff, PRG Inc., & AG Ellison, hundreds of Northside properties are being renovated and returned to single-family ownership, bringing stability and pride to local communities. www.fox9.com/news/new-own...
From slumlords to single families: New ownership for renovated rentals

Thanks to our state lawmakers and City staff, we’re rolling this out with fairness, equity, and privacy at the center.

Minneapolis is flipping the switch on five new traffic safety cameras. If you speed, you’ll get a ticket — but the real goal is saving lives.

This is a key step in our Vision Zero commitment to end traffic deaths, especially in spots where speeding has put people most at risk.

A month ago, Minneapolis faced a tragedy no city should ever have to face. Yet, too many communities know this pain. We’ll keep fighting for stronger gun laws—and every solution to keep kids safe. We owe it to our children to use every tool we have to prevent this from happening again.

33 new police officers just joined MPD — our biggest class in years. They come from all kinds of backgrounds but share one goal: keeping Minneapolis safe. I am extremly grateful they chose to step up for our city. www.startribune.com/after-length...

The influx of new officers is outpacing recent police departures, Police Chief Brian O’Hara said.
