#Noirvember podcast - I made some dubious claims on this episode of @watchwithjen.bsky.social comparing some classic crime films their 90s remakes (including discussion of films noir CRISS CROSS and DIABOLIQUE)

#Noirvember podcast - I really loved Travis Woods' INHERENT VICE podcast Increment Vice and was pleased to be on this episode focused on Josh Brolin's singular Bigfoot Bjornsen

I wasn't allowed to watch MIAMI VICE when it was originally broadcast, but I remember catching brief glimpses of episodes during its run. Today years old when I realized I'd mistaken Pruitt Taylor Vince for Bruce Willis once upon a

Aside from the incredible writing I love that Woodrell does not write long books. They all run just about 200 pages. Come to think of it... that's not aside from the incredible writing at all. To be that lyrical and evocative and richly detailed WITH precision? That's just incredible writing

ROBBERY HOMICIDE DIVISION season 1 on DVD when?
November 20, 2025 at 9:53 AM
I dunno, seems like a pretty nifty storytelling tool. I think my favorite example is the Co-Pilot episode of THE SHIELD (S2, E9). Such a fantastic beat to contextualize the drama and sustain the tension.

One of the chief pleasures of watching MIAMI VICE 40 years later is all the guest spots from often pre-fame talent. Also someone like Julio Oscar Mecheso can play 3 different characters over 8 episodes without anybody thinking it was a bad idea (it wasn't!)
