Do you read...Sutter Cane?
Yeah, the OP makes it sound like everyone *knew* this "new invention that's going to change the world" was a scooter. They were not letting on until the reveal, which was more ridiculous and anticlimactic than the opening of Capone's safe.
The hype:reality ratio was off the charts.

I want to preface this by saying I didn't think it was an amazing book, but it's entertaining and about writers and books - topics I have a weakness for.
The book is "The Library of the Unwritten", about a librarian in hell who tends a collection of all the books that went unwritten.

May I give you a fiction recommendation?

Ain't nothing wrong with Hot Topic! A perfectly valid shopping choice for the angsty and slightly alternative youth. Or old person, really.

"Yarn needs" that are apparently *concerning*!

"Help" is perhaps being used in a loose sense, here. 🤪

I've always just heard it called the "Cornetto Trilogy", and yeah, I find "trilogy" a stretch. At least the Mariachi one has a direct sequel in it.
Although it's possible my definition of "trilogy" is too narrow.

I love that movie, but yeah, it's not really great.
I drove by a number of the shooting locations when they filmed it. And I love looking for the impossibilities in it - driving away from Everett and instantly being in Seattle, jumping off the monorail on 5th to climb off a roof on 7th, etc.

I always found calling it a "trilogy" a real stretch.
"Desperado" is just "El Mariachi" in English with a much bigger budget. It's more remake than sequel.

I'm using "where I'm from" in a loose sense; where I consider myself to be "from". If I were talking about the place of my birth:
a man wearing sunglasses and headphones is sitting in a car .
ALT: a man wearing sunglasses and headphones is sitting in a car .

I am very confused what the exact relationship between these people is. Reading, I assumed they were your cousins, perhaps even his own offspring. Now I'm thinking they were *his* cousins.

My wife wanted to go, but I'd already promised the second ticket (which were given to me by my employer) to our son. The main reason I did: I can't hear "Barracuda" without thinking of my boy, all of 4 years old, singing along with it, just belting it out.
And I knew I'd get a moment like this:

I THOUGHT I KNEW WHO YOU WERE, JOHN. How can you say something like that?
