Fair. I do also think it’s worth looking at the fact that Ward was projected to get $13m in arbitration and Rodriguez (i believe) is still pre-arb. That’s $13m more to spend in free agency.

This is the kind of trade I wanted to see from the Angels. They’re never going to rebuild so take value from an OF you’re never going to re-sign and chase a guy with front of the rotation potential.

Mike Maddux makes a lot more sense now.
