Is the whole Beast Arises series worth reading? I'm a bit put off by the sheer time investment if half the books are awful

I'd go with the infantry so you have more scoring pieces, bladeguard are really fun too when they have fallback and charge

To try and refill that ecological niche? Not that it's necessary but it is interesting to know how the environment changed after mammoths were killed off. The mice might actually make more sense if they sell them as pets!

Elemental Council is fantastic if you want an insight into the t'au mindset but not really otherwise. Otherwise, Lelith Hesperax: Queen of Knives is very good.
