And in Home Alone, Christmas loyalist Kevin must avoid the cops in order to save both himself and his family’s Christmas.

Think of the cop who harasses and sabotages the Arnold Schwarzenegger character in Jingle All the Way. Anti-Santa cop activity crescendos when cops raid the workplace of numerous Santa Claus figures who are seeking to ensure toys get to kids (with a small surcharge).

And in other Christmas movies that don’t feature Santa Claus himself, we see cops opposed to those who righteously celebrate Christmas.

In Miracle on 34th Street (90s version) and Ernest Saves Christmas, cops arrest Santa based on the accusation that he is ‘mentally disturbed.’ The theme of cops arresting Santa can be found in traditions as diverse as Miracle on 34th Street, the original Santa Clause, and the Christmas Chronicles.

How many times do the cops arrest Santa? In Santa Clause is Coming to Town, the mayor of Sombertown, Burgermeister Meisterburger, outlaws toys and deploys the cops to remove them from the town and then to arrest Kris Kringle and the little Kringles as a non-conformist and rebel. Toy burnings ensue.
